    • Overactive bladder (OAB) with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and increased urinary frequency.

Mechanism of Action:

  • Solifenacin is a selective antagonist of the M3 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor, which helps relax the bladder muscle, reducing the frequency of involuntary contractions and improving bladder capacity.

  • It can be taken with or without food.

Side Effects:

  • Common Side Effects: Dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, dizziness, and urinary retention.
  • Serious Side Effects: Risk of angioedema, severe allergic reactions, and potential for urinary tract infections.

Contraindications:

  • Not recommended for individuals with:
    • Known hypersensitivity to solifenacin or any of its components.
    • Urinary retention or gastric retention.
    • Severe ulcerative colitis or myasthenia gravis.

Storage:

  • Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight.

Precautions:

  • Caution is advised in patients with conditions such as renal or hepatic impairment, as dose adjustments may be necessary.
  • Monitor for signs of urinary retention, especially in patients with a history of urinary issues.

Patient Counseling:

  • Advise taking the medication consistently at the same time each day.
  • Encourage patients to report any side effects, especially those affecting vision or urination.
  • Discuss lifestyle changes that may help manage symptoms of overactive bladder, such as bladder training and fluid management.
